Clasps & Hinges - 18th & 19th May

130.00

An essentially technical weekend learning some vital jewellery (and silversmithing) essentials when it comes to hinges and clasps.

Box Clasps are the ideal fitting for bangles, bracelets, heavy necklaces and bead strings. The basic principle can be adapted to a huge range of different designs and sizes, and can become the central attraction of a piece of Jewellery.

In this two day workshop you will make a box clasp and learn how to make the simple mechanism strong and secure. We will also make a 3 or 5 part hinge, which can be used with the clasp when making bangles or adapted for making boxes with lids.

Materials provided will be copper, if you would like to work in silver the tutor will discuss your project with you before the workshop and give advice on what to purchase.
